This display holds a very special place in the neighborhood. It is set up in loving memory of Pat Lutz, who passed away this past year. The inflatables featured here were Pat’s own, pieces he proudly put out every holiday season to bring joy to those around him.
After his passing, Pat’s wife, Sue, donated the inflatables to their neighbors at 1803 N. Van Buren. Chris now puts them up each year in Pat’s honor, keeping his holiday tradition alive and ensuring his spirit continues to brighten the neighborhood.
It’s a touching reminder of how something as simple as holiday lights can carry memories, love, and connection, and how a community comes together to remember one of their own.

2109 Pennington Rd, Hutchinson-Jason Rose
Lights on Pennington Road is one of Hutchinson’s most well-known and beloved holiday traditions. Spanning nearly two acres, this drive-through display takes visitors on a journey from one themed scene to the next, packed with glowing wireframes, classic blow molds, inflatables, and detailed lighted characters. There truly is something here for everyone, making it a favorite for families, longtime locals, and first-time visitors alike.
The story behind the display goes back decades. The creator began putting up more lights than average as a teenager in the 1990s, eventually launching an animated, music-synchronized display using Light-O-Rama in 2009 while living on College Lane. That display grew larger each year and continued to evolve after moving to Pennington Road in 2017. While the show is no longer animated to specific songs, Christmas music now plays on 106.7 FM, setting the perfect soundtrack as you drive through and take it all in.
The display is open nightly from 5:30 PM to 11:00 PM through December 31, offering a relaxed, festive experience you can enjoy from the comfort of your vehicle. It’s a must-see stop on the HutchConnect Holiday Light Trail and a shining example of how one person’s passion can become a community tradition.

This dazzling display from the Stone-Tallman family turns their entire property into a glowing Christmas experience. The house is trimmed in warm lights, with colorful scenes spread across the yard reindeer, candy canes, shimmering trees, and a bright mix of classic and modern decorations that bring the whole hillside to life. Their tradition began in 2020 with a covid-safe drive-by show called Lights on Idlewild, complete with Santa, elves, hot cocoa, cookies, and donations for local charities. When they moved to Snokomo Road in The Highlands, the display grew and became the Snow Show on Snokomo. Weston even built a working snow machine, so when the weather hits the perfect temperature and humidity, visitors can enjoy real snow drifting through the lights.
Each year, the family hosts an event where guests can take photos with Santa, play in the snow, enjoy cocoa and cookies, and soak in the lights. All donations are split between the Cancer Council of Reno County, TECH, and BrightHouse.
You can follow updates and event announcements on their Facebook page.
